About the Author — Byju H
Byju H is a wildlife researcher, conservation volunteer, and field naturalist with extensive on-ground experience across South India. He is an active member of the Vulture Conservation Working Group – South India (VCWG-SI) and an alumnus of The American College, Madurai, where he completed his Master’s degree in Zoology.
He began his research career with the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) and has worked with Government agencies on wildlife-related assignments. He currently works as an independent environmentalist and freelance researcher, assisting various forest departments and conservation groups in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Byju H has travelled widely across India studying wildlife and biodiversity through direct field observation. One of his major conservation initiatives includes an all-India campaign on roadkill awareness named PATH (Provide Animals Safe Transit on Highways), under which he coordinated a 23,000-kilometre road journey across 43 days, creating awareness among schools, colleges, forest officials, sanctuary staff, and transport stakeholders.
He has been closely involved in vulture research and monitoring in the Mudumalai–Sathyamangalam landscape and has contributed to multiple field studies and conservation projects. In addition to research, he is a wildlife photographer and writer whose photographs and articles have appeared in leading newspapers and magazines.
Valley of Hope – Moyar and Vultures is his first book, drawn from his field experiences and long-term engagement with the Moyar Valley landscape and its vulture populations.
